The True OG
Many people mistakenly believe that the letters “OG” stand for “original gangster,” but in cannabis genetics, the acronym really refers to a strain that was “ocean grown,” in the tolerant Pacific environments. The strain True OG is a prime example of this California-grown lineage. The strain was created by Elemental Seeds and is derived from OG Kush stock. It has a variety of well-rounded effects. Due of its strength, True OG placed second among indicas in the 2010 High Times Medical Cannabis Cup. Its THC content has been found to range from 15% to 24%.
True OG flowers are characterized by their little, squat stature. The buds adhere in a tapered, pinecone-like shape with sharply pointed points, and they are quite small. The thick bud form that is frequently linked with indicas has leaves that tightly curve inward. The pistils on these pale sea green leaves are twisted and orange and brown in color. Finally, the inner and exterior surfaces of the leaves are covered in a layer of hazy white trichomes, which gives True OG’s blossoms a white sheen when viewed from a distance.
True OG’s blossoms, when fully dried, release a potent aroma of fresh pine and skunk. There is also an undercurrent of a damp, earthy feel upon closer scrutiny. These buds produce some incense-like scents when they are ground up, probably inherited from their Afghani ancestor strain. True OG strain emits a bitter, somewhat sour smoke during combustion that might irritate the nose and tongue and make you cough. Despite this, the strong smoke has a flavor that is agreeable to the palate, with notes of citrus on the exhale.
